I have no reason to doubt Meteion's report in its broad strokes, though I believe no small amount of it to be self-fulfilling, but I can indeed attest to a world that met its untimely end: the Dragonstar, as we name it. A race of beings known as the Omicron, once biological but now purely mechanical in nature, waged war upon dragonkind simply because that was their nature. So strong was their ultimate weapon, known as Omega, that the strongest of all dragons had no choice but to flee the dying star with seven of his eggs in hand. That dragon, Midgardsormr, found his way to Etheirys, to make a pact with myself as Hydaelyn, and settle upon our star to raise his brood.
From this we can see that one civilization met its end, and another lost its way into a self-destructive spiral of eternal war. We can also infer that many other civilizations met their end at the hands of the Omicron.
It may perhaps be unnecessary to say that Ancient society is another failed civilization, as well.
[ Midgardsormr - the Dragon in Norse God, one of the few True Dragons in existence? Interesting. ]
I see, though, in hindsight, BB's words may hold little significance. As an entity existing solely to oversee civilization, BB mourns all that was and all that could have been in every place she sang her song.

Meteion was a symptom, an agent, not a cause. Those who had the strength to face and overcome despair could not be affected by her song. It was, in that respect, simply a more direct and literal manifestation of the struggle that all must face.
